Glass Echoes

Alfaparf Milano Glass Echoes Collection 2014

Inspired by the ANCIENT TRADITION OF GLASSMAKING, GLASS ECHOES COMBINES ART AND SCIENCE INTO NEW COLOR HARMONIES.

Nothing expresses the essence of creativity quite like glass. It is an element that seemingly has a magical balance of colors, lights and reflections. The skillful hands of Italian artists in Murano have been guided by passion and experience and shaped the material to give life to pieces of work that convey emotions.

The echo of this ancient tradition is the inspiration behind GLASS ECHOES, in which art and science are combined to create new color harmonies.

Feeling the texture of the material, blending colors with art, testing new techniques: all these aspects connect the world of glass with the world of hair care.

Feeling the texture of the material, blending colors with art, testing new techniques: all these aspects connect the world of glass with the world of hair care.

GLASS ECHOES mimics the feeling of color moving through a medium. Glass demonstrates a fusion of color...a gradual, gentle transition of tones. The look is very fluid without any harsh demarcation lines. In GLASS ECHOES we recreate this effect in color, creating looks which shows a gradual movement of color through the hair. The results are highly wearable, modern and contemporary.

GLASS ECHOES expresses this concept in three new color techniques we'll be sharing throughout 2014: ESSENZA, ESTASI and SOFFIO.

Resources:

TECHNIQUE 1: ESSENZA

ESSENZA is inspired by one of the versatile materials in nature: glass. Nothing in nature evolves as glass: originating from powder, it becomes a liquid, and finally a solid. In this technique, color merges and changes throughout the hair.

In ESSENZA, we've used a combination of golds: a copper mixture and a violet mixture and removed any brassy overtones from the copper and creating a peachy look to the golden mixtures. The result is more contemporary, as we've added more warmth and depth for a look that is modern, wearable and that gives personality to long and medium cuts.

TECHNIQUE 2: ESTASI

ESTASI is inspired by one of the versatile materials in nature: glass. The artist, inspired by the ecstasy of creation, is able to see beyond. Their eyes can see the next piece when the material is still formless. Glass transparency allows you to see what is beyond.

In ESTASI, our blonde look, we've used a pink tone that creates an interesting feeling...vintage, but doesn't have an artificial, candy-floss look to it. Alfaparf Milano Color Director Vivica Davies sees this as an amazing color to use in the interior of blonde hair to add a warmth that doesn't add any gold or brassiness to the hair. It has a lovely, smoky and sophisticated feeling to the pink tone.

TECHNIQUE 3: SOFFIO

SOFFIO is inspired by one of the versatile materials in nature: glass. Fusion: the process used to create glass. In this technique, material and colors blend together to create a balanced harmony of shades. This black cherry look is a very rich multi-faceted shade. The most vivid red is softened by a deep brown and shades of violet/mahogany, creating a sophisticated modern nuance.
